2021版新高考英語一輪復(fù)習(xí) Module 2 Highlights of My Senior Year課后達(dá)標(biāo)檢測(cè) 外研版選修7

Module 2 Highlights of My Senior Year (建議用時(shí):35分鐘).閱讀理解A(2020·太原模擬)Were often reminded of the importance of preserving the planet as we see it for future generationsand children at St Oswalds CE Primary School Chester certainly agree.Nineyearold Isobel Kelleher from the schools Hummingbirds class thinks adults need to take note. “Sometimes they can be busy and I dont think they think they can make a difference, but if everyone does a little bit it all adds up,” she tells HuffPost UK. “We started looking at plastic pollution in our oceans and the things like plastic bags that are polluting them,” she says. “Fish can eat the plastic and they can die, or we might even eat the fish ourselves.”Mr. Timms, Isobels teacher, has been spearheading a new project at the school which lets children loose creatively to raise awareness of the need to be more environmentally friendly. The entire Hummingbirds class, which is made up of 9and 10yearold pupils, has been busy writing poems and creating online video adverts to warn adults about the serious situation of our oceans and wildlife.Mr. Timms thinks children have an important role to play in teaching us how to take care of the things around us. “We sometimes overlook how much we can really learn from children,” he says. “It has been really hard to believe having parents come in saying that their children have been asking them to stop using plastic, and to recycle more, and even stopping them using plastic straws.”Mr. Timms is proud of his Hummingbirds class. “The message that they would like to send to world is simple: stopping this isnt someone elses job, and it wont be OK if we just leave it.”【解題導(dǎo)語】本文是一篇說明文。 1What can we infer about adults according to Isobel Kelleher?AThey just pretend to be busy.BThey havent done their part well.CThey can do nothing to stop pollution.DThey have started to care about the ocean.B解析:推理判斷題。根據(jù)第二段的內(nèi)容,尤其是第一句“Nineyearold Isobel Kelleher from the schools Hummingbirds class thinks adults need to take note.” 2What is the purpose of the school project?ATo help adults to learn more about their kids.BTo remind adults to be friendly to the environment.CTo persuade students to stop using plastic bags.DTo teach students how to write poems creatively.B解析:細(xì)節(jié)理解題。根據(jù)第三段尾句“The entire Hummingbirds class, which is made up of 9and 10yearold pupils, has been busy writing poems and creating online video adverts to warn adults about the serious situation of our oceans and wildlife.” 3Why does Mr. Timms mention parents in Paragraph 4?ATo prove kids are creative in teaching.BTo attract people to support his work.CTo have adults care about education.DTo show the effects of the project.D解析:推理判斷題。根據(jù)第四段尾句“It has been really hard to believe having parents come in saying that their children have been asking them to stop using plastic, and to recycle more, and even stopping them using plastic straws.” 4What is the text mainly about?AAn inspiring school project.BAn appeal to stop using plastic bags.CSerious situations of our planet.DAdults ignorance of the environment.A解析:主旨大意題。 Timms, Isobels teacher, has been spearheading a new project at the school which lets children loose creatively to raise awareness of the need to be more environmentally friendly.” While an entire month free of homework or tests may sound too good to be true, that is exactly what the students at Sturenskolan School in Boden, Sweden were treated to in April. Whats more, if the results of the experiment prove encouraging, starting 2019, the middle schoolers will never have to worry about afterschool work or tests, aside from the national examinations, which are compulsive for students across the country. The schools principal, Petronella Sirkka, who came up with the idea, said, “We are constantly receiving new reports that our children feel bad. And thats because they have a high level of stress all the time. This is our way of trying to reduce that stress.”The educator says that while banning homework and tests sounds radical(激進(jìn)的), it makes sense given the changes in the curriculum and approaches to education. While in the past students were primarily subjected to memorizing facts, learning today is all about reflection and analysis. As a result, it is often harder for kids, especially those with little support at home, to comprehend the material by themselves.Sirkka is not the only one who believes afterschool work does not help students learn. In March 2018, another principal in Canada also decided to do away with homework. They hope parents will spend the extra time reading to their kids. While the longterm impact of the recent decisions made by the two educators remains to be seen, the experiment has already proved successful in Finland which has done away with homework, grades, and even teaching by subjects for many years. Yet, Finnish students always rank high in the PISA (Programme for International Student Assessment) tests especially in math and science but they have the least homework! Hopefully, it will only be a matter of time before US educators follow their lead and ban afterschool work as well!【解題導(dǎo)語】本文是一篇說明文。 5The students at Sturenskolan School had no homework in April because _Athe headmaster was experimenting with her ideaBthey needed to do some experiments during the monthCthey were busy preparing for the national examinationsDthe headmaster had to carry out the governments policyA解析:細(xì)節(jié)理解題。根據(jù)第二段第一句中的“The schools principal, Petronella Sirkka, who came up with the idea”,并結(jié)合第一段的內(nèi)容可知,Sturenskolan學(xué)校的學(xué)生們?cè)谒脑路輿]有家庭作業(yè)和考試是該校校長提出的想法,故A項(xiàng)正確。6What makes childrens learning hard nowadays?AChildren have to do more analyzing.BThe approach to education is complex.CChildren get no support at home and school.DThere are many more facts to memorize.A解析:細(xì)節(jié)理解題。根據(jù)第三段第二、三句“While in the past students were primarily subjected to memorizing facts, learning today is all about reflection and analysis. As a result, it is often harder for kids, especially those with little support at home, to comprehend the material by themselves.” 7What does Petronella Sirkka most likely advise parents to do?AHelp children with their homework.BFree children from afterschool housework.CSpend more time reading to their children.DCommunicate with teachers from time to time.C解析:推理判斷題。根據(jù)第四段尾句“They hope parents will spend the extra time reading to their kids.” 8What can we infer about the students in Finland?AThey study the hardest at school.BThey have a more relaxing school life.CThey enjoy great success after graduation.DThey all have a talent for math and science.B解析:推理判斷題。根據(jù)尾段第一句中的“the experiment has already proved successful in Finland which has done away with homework, grades, and even teaching by subjects for many years”可知,多年來,芬蘭已經(jīng)取消了家庭作業(yè)、成績等級(jí),甚至科目教學(xué)。 Whats the purpose of building patience abilities? In a word, happiness. Better relationships, more success. But indeed it takes efforts to build them successfully. 1._ Thus, when the big ones come, we will have developed the patience we need for hard times.Understand the addictive nature of anger and impatience. We, human beings, are still constructed with our old reptilian(爬行動(dòng)物的) brain that protects our physical and emotional survival. On the emotional survival side, we want our way to get ahead, to achieve, and to “l(fā)ook good”. Lets just face it. 2._ So the first step in growing patience is to get in touch with the addictive quality of the opposite of patienceanger, impatience, blame and shame. We all have them. And we can grow beyond them.Upgrade our attitude towards discomfort and pain. Pain has its purposes and pushes us to find solutionswe try to change the other person, situation or thing that we think is causing our discomfort. But the problem is that it is not the outside thing thats the source of our pain, but how our mind is set. 3._Pay attention when the impatience or pain starts. Most of us dont really realize it when we are feeling even the smallestbut very presentpainful feelings. 4._ But to really care for ourselves, get curious about whats actually happening in the moment inside you. Focusing on whats actually happening, you can notice the worry of not wanting whats happening, the resistance.5_ When you find yourself impatient, or angry with yourself, you can remind yourself that you are growing, and that, “Sure, this is understandable; this is what happens to me when Im bothered.” You can say to yourself, “Its true. I dont like this; this is uncomfortable, but I can tolerate it.”APractice positive selftalk.BSo the solution to pain is an inside job.CPatience abilities benefit you in many ways.DLearn to forgive yourself for being impatient in hard times.EWe ignore the fact that were in pain and focus completely on fixing the problem.FThe urge to protect ourselves and what we consider valuable is absolutely habitforming.GEffective ways are recommended to train ourselves to work with little pain and annoyance.【解題導(dǎo)語】本文是一篇說明文,主要介紹了培養(yǎng)耐心的幾個(gè)有效的方法。1G解析:根據(jù)空后一句“Thus, when the big ones come, we will. hard times.” 2F解析:根據(jù)空后的“So the first step. blame and shame.” 3B解析:根據(jù)空前一句“But the problem is that it is not the outside thing thats the source of our pain, but how our mind is set.” 4E解析:根據(jù)空前一句“Most of us dont really realize it. painful feelings.”及空后的“get curious about whats actually happening in the moment inside you”可知,我們經(jīng)常忽略了這樣一個(gè)事實(shí),即我們處于痛苦之中,而我們關(guān)注的焦點(diǎn)總是全部集中在解決問題上。 It used to be common to see US teenagers busy at fastfood restaurants cooking burgers and 1._(clean) tables, especially during the summer vacation. 2._, the scene is becoming less common.Instead of finding summer jobs, many US teenagers are spending 3._(they) free time taking classes. According to The Atlantic, this change partly results 4._the low teen earnings paying little toward the costs of college. For many students who are going to attend college, the money from summer jobs doesnt live up to their 5._(expect) at all. Meanwhile, US teenagers increasing interest in education 6._(account) for this as well. They go to summer school to learn 7._they might not have time for after they leave school, which 8._(consider) as a wise choice.Despite this, a summer job is still believed to benefit teenagers. Early work experience is 9._human activity that develops peoples social skills. When kids are working, they gradually gain 10._(practice) knowledge and understanding of the labor market.【解題導(dǎo)語】這是一篇說明文,主要介紹了美國青少年暑期生活的變化。 根據(jù)空前的并列連詞and可知,空處與前面的cooking并列作be busy(in) doing sth. 由上文中的“It used to be common”以及空后的“the scene is becoming less common”可知,此處前后句構(gòu)成轉(zhuǎn)折關(guān)系,故用However。 8
