Good afternoon, everyone. Its my great pleasure to share my teaching design with you. The content of my lesson is New Senior English for China Students Book5 Unit 5 First Aid, period 2. Reading. This reading passage titled First Aid for Burns is a text from a book called First Aid for the Family. Students will learn something about burns and the first aid treatments for burn.I think there are three teaching important points: 1. Let students know about burns and the first aid treatments for burns.2. Get students to read the passage and understand it.3. Have students learn different reading skills.Among them the difficult teaching points are:Develop students reading ability. andEnable students to know about burns and the first aid treatments for burns.In this class Ill achieve three dimensional aims:Knowledge aims are as follows:1. Let students learn about some first aid knowledge.2. Have students read the passage and know about burns and the first aid treatments for burns. 3. Get the students to learn some news words and expressions in this part.As for Ability aims they are:Develop students reading ability and let them learn different reading skills.Enable students to know about burns and the first aid treatments for burns.And Emotion aim, they are:Stimulate students interest in first aid and learn to protect themselves or help others when something happens. and Develop students sense of cooperationNext are my Teaching proceduresFirst, Ill lead in the topic by asking a student to pretend that he has his ankle sprained, and ask the students if they know how to treat the sprained ankle.Then let the students watch a video to know how to treat a sprained ankle properly, thus introducing the topic of first aid. More importantly, this activity will attract students attention and arouse their interest.Step 2 Pre-readingShow the students a picture like this, and set two questions. In this way, I can switch the topic to first aid for burns.Step3 While-readingIn this part, Ill develop students reading ability and let them learn different reading skills1. SkimmingGive the students 1 minute to skim the subtitles and ask them to put the topics in right order, which makes the Ss know the structure of the text.2. ScanningAsk students just scan para1 to 4 one by one and answer these questions so that they will know about burns without reading the text word by word.1. Detailed reading.(para5)4minutesAsk students to read this paragraph carefully and discuss with their partners to fill in the blanks. They will learn the first aid treatment for burns.Step 4 Post-readingIll use a form of retelling. Using this form, the Ss will open their mouths to speak English bravely, and this is also a form of consolidation.Step 5 PerformanceAsk the students to imagine if they were the mother, what they would do. The teacher asks two students to act it out. Meanwhile the rest of the students will retell para5 with the help of seven pictures. In this part, the students will learn to cooperate with others. And they can put what they have learnt into practiceStep 6 HomeworkAsk them to find more information about first aid and retell the text.All in all, after this class, the Ss ability of listening, speaking, reading and writing will be developed and realize the aim of new course.
