Conversation (Listen and look) 2. Song (Listen and sing.) Teaching difficult: Conversation (Listen and look) Materials : Picture Cards from Level 1, Picture Cards from Level2. Teaching process: Step 1:Warming up Sing a song. Play a game. (Guessing game) Step 2: Conversation (Listen and look) 1. Put Picture Cards of Gogo, Tony and Jenny on the board. 2. T: What’s his name? Who’s she? 3. Model responses then elicit responses from Ss. 4. Put Picture Cards of notebook, snake, butterfly and lamp on the board. 5. Model answers, e.g. It’s a small snake. Have Ss repeat. 6. Point to Ss’ books and play the tape. 7. Play the tape again, pausing after each sentence to let Ss repeat. 8. Divide Ss into four groups for the roles of Tony, Jenny, Bing the bird and Gogo. 9. T reads each line, pausing for each group to repeat its part. 10. Encourage groups to add actions, e.g. Tony and Jenny looking up and pointing at the sky and the bird flapping its wings. 11. Act Conversation. 12. Memory Conversation and write down by themselves. Step 3 :Practice 2 (Ask and answer.) Write Are you thirsty? And do you have a ruler? On the board. T: Are you thirsty? (Point to s1.)[s1: Yes, I am. /No, I’m not.] T: How about you? Are you thirsty? (Point to s2.)[s2: Yes, I am. / No, I’m not.] Continue until you get both yes and no answers. Do the same for Do you have a ruler? T: Now, let’s read the questions together. Have Ss read the questions out loud. Put Ss into small groups to practice asking and answering the questions. Step4: Song (Listen and sing.) Write I’m____. And My name’s ____.in the board. T: I’m (T’s name). (Point to I’m ____.phrase.)What’s your name? (Point to S1.)[s1: I’m (S1’s name.)] T: My name’s (T’s name). (Point to My name’s ____.phrase.)What’s your name? (Point tos1)[S1: My name’s (S1’s name)] Ask several Ss using both question patterns. Play the tape and point to each word and sentence as it is sung. Play the tape a second time and have Ss sing along. Divide class into two teams. One team sings the Gogo part and the other team is Bing. After the class sings the song in the book, have the Bing team members substitute their real names in the song. Switch teams and sing the song again. Step 5: Exercise 1) Look and choose. 1. Let’s ____. A. fly B. flying C. is fly 2. ____ are they? They are Tony and Jenny. A. Whose B. What C. Teaching process: Step 1: Warming up Divide class into two teams. One team sings the Gogo part and the other team is Bing. (P6) Step 2:Activity1 (Look, read and write.) 1. T: Look at the pictures .I says the word and you point to the picture. 2. Say the words in random order .Circulate around the room to check where Ss are pointing. 3. T: Listen, repeat and point to the sentences. 4. Read the sentences in random order. Circulate around the room to check where Ss are pointing. 5. T: Listen. “He’s her grandfather.” Point to the picture. What number is it? [Ss: One.] 6. Have Ss look, read and write the numbers in the appropriate boxes. 7. Have Ss exchange books to check each other’s work. Step3: Activity 2(Listen and touch.) 1. T: I will say a word or a sentence .You touch the picture. 2. T calls out words or sentences, e.g. It’s six o’clock. Ss touch the corresponding picture. 3. Once Ss are familiar with the game, put Ss into groups of three. One student is the announcer and the other two will play against one another using one book. They pete to see who can touch the picture first. 4. Have Ss change roles after a few minutes. 5. Continue until all items have been called out. Step 4: Sounds and words (Listen, point and say) 1. Write cooks, plays and washes on the board and underline the ending sounds. 2. T: Let’s practice these sounds. Look at my mouth and repeat. Play the tape and have Ss point to each word as the tape says it. 3. T: Let’s listen again and this time, repeat. 4. Have Ss repeat after the tape. 5. Point to the pictures at random and have Ss said the words. 6. Help Ss if they have difficulty making the sounds /s/,/z/and /iz/. Step 5:Listen and say. 1. Have Ss look at the pictures. 2. Say the words in random order. 3. Ss touch the corresponding picture on the page. 4. T: Let’s listen to the tape. 5. Pause the tape after the first sentence. 6. T: He washes the cat. Repeat. [Ss: He washes the cat.]Point to the picture. 7. Ss point to each picture as they repeat the words. 8. Continue with the rest. Step 6: Homework 1. Reading. 2.
